One of the highlights of the Netherlands state broadcasting is a program called 'Andere Tijden' (Different Times). This program is a curious mix of current events and (recent) history in that it shed light on topics that are in the headlines today from a perspective of similar ocurences in history. A case of 'the more things change, the more they stay the same'.
EUReferendum has a post up, describing the failure in judgement the French made leading up to the Algerian wars. With the infamous November riots 'celebrating' their first anniversary and more violence brooding in the sub-urbs of varying French cities, this post serves as a warning: Treat this with the seriousness it deserves, or you might face an Algerian war in your own cities.
