Man made climate change: Now affecting Mars

From none other then National Geographic:
Mars, too, appears to be enjoying more mild and balmy temperatures.

In 2005 data from NASA's Mars Global Surveyor and Odyssey missions revealed that the carbon dioxide "ice caps" near Mars's south pole had been diminishing for three summers in a row.

Habibullo Abdussamatov, head of space research at St. Petersburg's Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory in Russia, says the Mars data is evidence that the current global warming on Earth is being caused by changes in the sun.

"The long-term increase in solar irradiance is heating both Earth and Mars," he said.
Not only that, but the current global warming is about to end, according to Abdussomatov:
"The solar irradiance began to drop in the 1990s, and a minimum will be reached by approximately 2040," Abdussamatov said. "It will cause a steep cooling of the climate on Earth in 15 to 20 years."
And when that happens, can we please drive Gore, Soros and the rest of that merry band of charlatans, tarred and feathered out of town, country and continent? Can we?

[UPDATE001] Read also this op-ed in the Daily Mail, tearing into the Stern report.
Stern states boldly that the scale of global warming has been unprecedented for at least the past 1,000 years, but he cannot possibly be sure on this point because data from previous centuries is unreliable.

At most, we have a 50-year span of accurate measurements. The only genuine global records of temperature come from weather balloons, since 1958, and from microwave sounding units, since 1978.

What they indicate is a very gently warming trend, nothing approaching the apocalyptic vision of Sir Nicholas.
Blue Crab Boulevard makes an observation along the lines we've maintained here at KV:
The bureaucrats and politicians who are embracing these theories are doing so because it increases their control. They gain more control of the economy, the behavior of citizens and expand their rule over everyday life. Its about power for them, alright. Not energy production though, it is political power. Look at the gargantuan consumption of electricity by Saint Al, or as he is known around here, Gorezilla. He urges controls over puny humans but exempts himself by purchasing green indulgences for himself - from himself, mind you. Those indulgences will only be available to the rich and powerful. Not the average person.
