Christian ethics have proved more durable than Christian beliefs. Even when we have supposedly left the religion behind, we still believe we have to make atonement for the sins of our forefathers, but since we no longer believe that Christ has made that sacrifice for us and washed away our sins, we end up sacrificing ourselves instead.[UPDATE001] Fjordman has published the conclusion of his multipart series Is Islam Compatible with Democracy? The entire essay, published in parts earlier on Jihad Watch, can be found here. A version that is easy on your printer can be found here.
In the wake the Malmö riots, that went totally underreported in the European MSM (I at least, have not seen anything in Dutch or German papers or TV magazines about it), Fjordman penned Jihad and the Collapse of the Swedish Model.
Sweden was presented during the Cold War as a middle way between capitalism and Communism. When this model of a society collapses – and it will collapse, under the combined forces of Islamic Jihad, the European Union, Multiculturalism and ideological overstretch – it is thus not just the Swedish state that will collapse but the symbol of Sweden, the showcase of an entire ideological world view. I wrote two years ago that if the trend isn't stopped, the Swedish nation will simply cease to exist in any meaningful way during the first half of this century. The country that gave us Bergman, ABBA and Volvo could become known as the Bosnia of northern Europe, and the "Swedish model" will be one of warning against ideological madness, not one of admiration. I still fear I was right in that assessment. The piece explores and explains the lengths to which the Swedish government has gone in the last two or three decades to make a multicultural, anti-nationalist utopia a reality in Sweden, with a total blindness to the ideology of so many of Sweden's immigrants, that don't give a flying fig about any utopia that isn't the Khilapha. And at the cost of the very nation that the government is supposed to serve. It is a rather depressing read, but a useful one.
Secondly, Fjordman collates and reviews articles on EU immigration policies in a piece for Gates of Vienna entitled The Migration Flood.
Marie Simonsen, political editor of the Norwegian left-wing newspaper Dagbladet, wrote in March 2007 that it should be considered a universal human right for all people everywhere to migrate wherever they want to. [...]It doesn’t take much skill to calculate that unlimited migration will spell certain death for a tiny Scandinavian nation such as Norway — not in a matter of generations, but theoretically even within a few weeks.Read it all.
Ms. Simonsen is thus endorsing the cultural eradication and perhaps physical annihilation of her own people, and she does so almost as an afterthought, no doubt congratulating herself for her own tolerance. Her comments received no opposition from anyone in the media establishment; this silence could be construed as a demonstration that most of them share her views, or at least have themselves resigned to the fact that our death as a people is already inevitable.
