Irredeemably childish

That is, I think, how we can characterize the more, errrm, dedicated elements within islam. The knighting of Salman Rushdie in the UK has the members of the Religion of Perpetual Outrage again in full hissy-fit mode. A Pakistani government minister showed the true peacefull nature of islam by stating that
If someone exploded a bomb on his body he would be right to do so unless the British government apologises and withdraws the 'sir' title.
Iran sees a vast islamophobic conspiracy:
This move once again proves that the insults against Islamic sanctities in the recent years are not accidental but programmed in advance by some Western countries
And now, in a delightfull moment of 'Booh, chucks to you. With knobs on', islamic scholars in Pakistan have awarded their own knighthood: Osama bin Laden has been named 'Saifullah' (Sword of Allah).
"We are pleased to award the title of Saifullah to Osama bin Laden after the British government’s decision to bestow the title of ’Sir’ on blasphemer Rushdie," council chairman Maulana Tahir Ashrafi told AFP.

"This is the highest title for a Muslim warrior."
Astute observation from Robert Spencer:
Islamic scholars? But doesn't that mean they have...studied Islam? And yet they are honoring bin Laden? But don't they know the true, peaceful teachings of the Qur'an and Muhammad that we keep hearing so much about?
Evidently there's some confusion on that issue. Even within islamic circles...
