Dutch minister of Integration, Ella Vogelaar (PvdA) surrenders pre-emptively to the islamists. And lets us glimpse her total lack of understanding of both history and the fundamental problem:
Centuries ago the Jewish community came to the Netherlands and now we say: the Netherlands is a land formed by the Judeo-Christian traditions. I can imagine that we would get a similar process with Islam.
I don't even know where to begin...

But it seems that it is a European affliction (or is that EU-ropean affliction?). After dropping the holocaust from the curriculum, the Brits have axed their greatest compatriot as well.
Britain’s cigar-chomping World War Two PM — famed for his two-finger victory salute — was removed from a list of figures secondary school children must learn about.

Instead they will be taught about “relevant” issues such as global warming and drug dangers. Churchill’s grandson, Tory MP Nicholas Soames, branded the move “total madness.”

Ad Melkert, who was instrumental in the dismissal of Wolfowitz as head of the World Bank, is in hot water again:
The Americans are angry at what they see as Melkert’s failure to intervene in the abuse of UN funds in North Korea. They claim UN money intended for the population is being siphoned off by dictator Kim Jong Il.
EU-ro politics, can't beat it for cynicism.

Pia Kjærsgåård, leader of the Danish Peoples Party won the libel suit against her. The suit was started by Danish muslims, after Kjærsgåård called the imams who instigated the Motoon affair 'traitors'. The judge thought she was in her right to call a spade a spade. Ofcourse, the muslims in question are now seeking a fatwa. Par for the course, I guess. Gates of Vienna has more.

In the mean time, it looks like the AL-Goristas may be about to jump the shark in spectacular fashion.
Whitehouse too concludes that it is apparent that the last decade shows no warming trend and recent successive annual global temperatures are well within each year's measurement errors. Statistically the world's temperature, he writes, is flat. The world certainly warmed between 1975 and 1998, but in the past 10 years it has not been increasing at the rate it did. No scientist could honestly look at global temperatures over the past decade and see a rising curve.

Any remaining doubt that the Darfur troubles are NOT jihad were dispelled this week:
Arabs from Chad and Niger are crossing into Darfur in "unprecedented" numbers, prompting claims that the Sudanese government is trying systematically to repopulate the war-ravaged region.

An internal UN report, obtained by The Independent, shows that up to 30,000 Arabs have crossed the border in the past two months. Most arrived with all their belongings and large flocks. They were greeted by Sudanese Arabs who took them to empty villages cleared by government and janjaweed forces.

One UN official said the process "appeared to have been well planned". The official continued: "This movement is very large. We have not seen such numbers come into west Darfur before."
Wild Bill Guarnere, WWII veteran made famous in the excellent series 'Band of Brothers', was taken to hospital after a major heart attack. Our thoughts and prayers are with him.

And finally, the cause of death of the late, unlamented Yasser Arafat is in. According to Ahmad Jibril, leader of the PFLP, French doctors concluded Arafat died of AIDS.
