In the mean time, over at the neighbors...

... we find a couple of items referring to events in the Netherlands.

First up is Dutch GoV agent H. Numan in a piece about Intolerant Tolerance. From green organisations wanting to ban Europeans to fly to their holliday destinations, even within Europe, via the ill-conceived forced smoking bans in public places, including bars and restaurants (with entirely predictable, non-positive economical effects) and contemporary environmental madness to the inevitable pockets of islamist agitation that demand from us that we give up what is ours, mr. Numan shows how 'tolerance' has become the blanket of socialist intolerance of those that do not agree with it. But there's hope:
Today we have the Internet. Plenty of bloggers who accurately follow public opinion, and publish it. What could an average citizen do in the past? Not a lot. He could write a letter to a newspaper. But today without a lot of effort that same citizen can see in the blink of an eye how many people share his opinion.

We also know that the attention span and memory of the general public is short. But bloggers and the Internet changed that. Our governments will likely change for the better, as sweeping unwanted sentiments under the carpet simply doesn’t work anymore. It’s just a matter of time before it will show in electoral results.

Also at GoV is Michiel Mans Response to Tariq Ramadan. Tariq Ramadan, you may remember, was offered, but declined, a professorate in Islamology at the once highly regarded Leiden University. Mr. Mans is responding to an interview that Ramadan did with Erasmus Magazine (page 37 — .pdf file). Going through the entire interview, Mans ends up with just four possible outcomes of the current trends in Europe:

1.
Muslims assimilate.

This means taking the Islam about as serious as most European Christians take the Bible. In practice this means e.g. that Muslim women (18+) can dress up, or down, in mini skirts when they feel like it. They can have a drink or two, or perhaps one too many occasionally. Good heavens, they might even have a one night stand with lots of casual sex after such booze up. This doesn’t happen every day I hope, but they can if they want to and nobody will lock them up, stone them or give them the lash. They can marry whom they love, not who their fathers love. You get the picture.
2.
Europeans become Muslims.

Personally, I rather die but it is indeed an option.
3.
No one gives in.

Neither side is willing to give up their way of life and inevitably this leads to civil war. Muslims do their best to increase their numbers. However, for the time being if that happens, you do the math. I’m afraid we are going to see more of this option sooner or later.
4.
See ‘living apart together’

We decide that war is not in either group’s interest and we split.
Mr. Mans makes argues convincingly for option 4 and I would think that in a sane, rational world it would be the only realistic option that will not end in an unthinkable amount of bloodshed and human tragedy. But I've gamed the options a bit, and I seem to always end up with either option 2 or options 3...

Finally, mr. R. Hartman, together with mr. Mans known in the Netherlands for their regular contributions to Het Vrije Volk (NL), takes a closer look at what must be the tiredest, most decrepid cliche our successive governments have been using to placate their citizens: Islam is not a threat to our way of life, rather it is Enriching Dutch Culture. In this short post, mr. Hartman highlights two recent events in the Netherlands: The recent coming out of the Dutch chapter of Hizb ut-Tahrir (HuT) and the rather offensive email a Dutch citizen received from an Enricher of Dutch culture with a seat in Charlois burrough council in Rotterdam (who shall not be named, for she is Bouchra Ismaili, pictured).

The same email is also picked up by The Dutch Daily, a newcomer in the expanding set of internationally oriented Dutch blogs. This blog has a translation of fragments of the email, that are rather complimentary in that they don't fully expose the utter illiteracy of the original 'Dutch' (which can be found here; NL):
"Listen well, you crazy freak. We are here to stay! Hahahaha. Drop dead! I am a Dutch Muslim and I will stay that way until I die."

Ismaili contends: "You are the foreigners here!!! With Allah on my side I fear no one. Me and my fellow Muslims are alive! Your species is being consumed by hatred. Let me give you some advice: Convert to Islam and find peace at heart!"
Not exactly the language you'd expect from a council representative, is it? One wonders if our Queen would include ms. Ismaili in her warning against 'coarseness in word and deed'. Anyone with a superficial knowledge of Dutch political affairs will not be surprised to learn that this illiterate creature is occupying a council seat for the PvdA, Dutch labour.

[UPDATE001 Wednesday 16-01] Esther has a translation of the complete email here.

[UPDATE002 Wednesday 23-01] Last night saw an emergency session of the Charlois borough council (NL) about the Ismaili-email affair. This creature apparently signed a Hizb ut-Tahrir petition claiming 'It is about time to get rid of a culture that damages our Islam and start proclaiming the true beauty of Islam. Only thus will we grow in our Islam'. After first denying she signed it, she refused to comment when confronted with the evidence. And still the PvdA sees no reason to take action! Dutch Concerns has the goods. And the most infuriating reaction:
The president of the CDA fraction even stated that he's ashamed of being Dutch, for what is being done to Ismaili.

[UPDATE003 Wednesday 23-01] According to TV Rijnmond (NL) Ismaili has been given a speaking ban by the PvdA fraction. Still, according to Charlois PvdA fraction leader De Baan Ismaili's opinions are 'in line with those of the PvdA'.

Got that? Telling someone to 'drop dead' and 'convert to islam', as well as signing a petition for an organisation that holds that 'Jihad is a compulsory duty on all Muslims. Military training is therefore compulsory' are opinions which are in line with those of the PvdA.

That was an unexpectedly frank admission by fraction leader De Baan, wasn't it?
