In totalitarian societies everything is political, even children movies. Thus the Egyptian State Information reports:
Cairo Film Festival rejects Denmark, Netherlands' participation
Cairo International Film Festival for Children rejected Wednesday 27/2/2008 the participation of Denmark and the Netherlands in the 2008 session to be held on March 6 through 13.
The decision was taken in response to a film and cartoons produced by the two countries mocking Islam's Prophet Muhammad, the festival's chairman Fawzi Fahmi said.
It's unclear if "the pioneer of tomorrow" or similar children shows will be shown at the festival. An other nice trivia: below the article is an other headline: "PM: Freedom of expression secured for all journalists". Lol.
Update: Egypt accepted the Dutch governments apology for the movie. It has reinstated the children's film. Lucky us!
