Wilders trial to resume some time between July and October

Apparently the trial will resume somewhere between July 1st and October 31st, depending on the availability of the three witnesses Wilders was allowed.

According to Snouck, where I got the information from, resumption depends specifically on when Wafa Sultan will be able to come over.

Pat mentions that the trial has been postponed to a time when the Dutch elections will take place. Is that right KV?

DP,

That's okay. The question is still valid: 'Pat mentions that the trial has been postponed to a time when the Dutch elections will take place. Is that right KV?'

Not quite. In March we have local elections, for city councils and such. The next national elections are scheduled for May next year. The time frame for the resumption of the trial falls right in between.

But, if one is inclined to conspiracy: Tensions in the current coalition are quite high. Actually very few people expect the coalition to hold until the end of their term. There have been rumours that the christian democrats are looking for a way out. The best time, some agree, to pull the plug would be after the local elections (where the coalition is generally expected to get trounced).

If that happens, the national elections would probably be held in the second half of this year. Coincidentally, that would be right when the Wilders is tied up in court. So, Pat is not right... yet.

So Wilders will be tied up in court just at the time when he should be campaigning.

This could go either way.

I do not know what to make of this. Is this a deliberate plan to intimidate Wilders or a plan to provoke the Dutch?
