Euthanasia - Update : Patient survives the pillow

Breaking news from the negotiations for a new Dutch cabinet: 'Cabinet talks on verge of collapse'.
Talks on forming a right-wing cabinet between the VVD Liberals, Christian Democrats and anti-Islam PVV are on the verge of collapse on Tuesday evening because of divisions within the CDA, various media report.

According to news agency ANP, CDA number two Ab Klink wants to call a halt or says he will leave the party over its plans to link up with the PVV. The agency bases its claims on inside sources.

Klink, the current health minister, has been at the negotiating table for the past few sessions. Party leader Maxime Verhagen wants to press ahead with the talks, ANP said.

On Tuesday, the formal negotiations were stopped to allow CDA MPs to hold a meeting to discuss developments so far.

Over the past few weeks, a number of senior CDA members have come out against the party joining forces with Wilders because of his calls for ethnic registration and an end to immigration from Muslim countries.
Minister Ab Klink was featured on KV before, most notably in relation to the resistance against the EUnion mandated smoking ban and the rather totalitarian notion of mandatory consultation for parents with a child wish. These two links should give a an idea of the measure of the man. Apparently he has now openly sided with the small but loud left wing squadrons of fossilized has-beens of the CDA that see Geert Wilders and the PVV as evil incarnate.

The exact reason for the differences of opinion between Klink and chief negotiator Maxime Verhagen are yet unknown. According to De Volkskrant (NL) Klink feels the negotiations are progressing too fast, with the CDA conceding too much. Which coming from a party that lost a third of its seats may be a bit presumptuous.

Be that as it may, with the CDA fraction and the negotiations now throw in turmoil, it seems that the left wing fossils have finally reached their goal: The possibility of a Danish cabinet blown out of the water.

But what they may not reckon with, or so it seems: They will have destroyed the CDA as a credible force in Dutch politics with it. Earlier Elsevier reported that up to 80% of the CDA membership support the formation of a 'Danish' cabinet. These members (and voters!) will not be happy and a lot of them will find refuse with parties that do represent their views: The VVD and the PVV.

In the polls the CDA stands at an historic low of 15 seats. Should the negotiations fail, that number will have only but one way to go: Down. The party is committing suicide. Or rather, it is being actively euthanised by those in its family that have betrayed its christian principles for the politics of power. Sic transit gloria mundi, I guess.

[UPDATE001 Wed 1 - 9, 0:00 CET]
No resolution yet. But at least the plug hasn't been pulled. Tomorrow at noon the CDA fraction will reconvene (NL). If you are so inclined, say a little prayer for our small, damp corner of the world.

[UPDATE002 Wed 1 - 9, 7:54 CET] According to De Telegraaf (NL) it was ex-PM Ruud Lubbers (our international audience may know him as the ex-UN big potato who had to leave his post after allegations of sexual misconduct. Even though the equally loathsome Kofi Anan tried to cover for him) and current Justice minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin (internationally famous for lifting from his bed and prosecuting Dutch cartoonist Gregorius Nekschot) that pressured Ab Klink into throwing the negotiations into disarray. This is the quality of the people that are evidently trying to save Holland and the CDA by destroying it.

[UPDATE003 Wed 1 - 9,11:24 CET] There are rumblings of a more positive tone. De Telegraaf (NL) reports that large numbers of CDA functionaries are calling for the continuation of the negotiations. Two of the current CDA heavy hitters, our intrepid (former) PM Jan-Peter Balkenende and minister Piet-Hein Donner are supporting Verhagen, and not Klink.

In De Pers, Kustaw Bessems (NL) describes the aftermath of the meeting last night: Klink left by his lonesome, two of his allies in the fraction briskly walked out, with storm on their faces, while Verhagen was happily enjoying a beer with colleagues. On the basis of that you'd say that whatever happened last night (Bessems suggests a palace coup by Klink to conquer fraction leadership) Verhagen came out on top. Indeed, this is what Joshua Livestro (NL) is twittering: Klink has gambled and lost. He had one chance last night to force a decision. He failed and now he is finished.

I hope Livestro is right... We'll know more in another couple of hours.

[UPDATE004 Wed 1 - 9,23:34 CET] A couple of hours that are stretching into the coming day. There's a lot going on, but all of it really of little substance. The CDA fraction met. But the meeting broke up after half an hour to make way for some 'intense' bilateral meetings between Verhagen and individual fraction members.

In the mean time Klink wrote a letter, which was promptly leaked (pdf; NL), detailing his objections to continued negotiations. The gist of it: He accuses Geert Wilders pre-emptively of going to explain any measure to limit migration in terms of 'de-islamisation', thereby forcing the CDA in the defensive and 'unbinding' Dutch society. Wilders vehemently denied the caricature that was drawn of him in the letter, while both Verhagen and and the VVD have said the letter does not do Wilders justice (If you read Dutch: Afsin Ellian posted a brilliant take down of the Klink letter on Elsevier; NL).

The latest is that minister Piet-Hein Donner has entered the fray as a mediator in an ultimate attempt to re-unify the fraction. Local chapters of the CDA have said that *if* the CDA fraction drops out of the negotiations now, a party conference must be held (NL) next Saturday. A conference where probably heads will be put on the block and mercilessly chopped off. CDA fraction leader for the province of Limburg, Geert Frische is adamant: "The party elite may want one thing, but we are down in the dirt every day and we see there is a lot of support for a right wing cabinet".

Whether the CDA will make the Danish cabinet a reality, or not is still up in the air. But the way things are shaping up indicate that irrespective of the outcome, after this thing is over the CDA grass-roots will be out to rid the party of dead wood. And about bloody time too!

[FINAL UPDATE] Victory for Verhagen: CDA crisis over for now, coalition talks with PVV to continue. Klink will stay on as fraction member, but I doubt that after this stunt we will see him again as a minister or state-secretary. No doubt Klink is looking into his retirement arrangements this morning.

Things bite back

Richard North of EURef on the unintended consequences of the EUnion:
Fifty years of European political integration is not uniting us – it is dividing us, turning us back into enemies.

As Frenchmen, Germans, Italians, Spaniards and the rest, they are our friends and allies, and deserve our respect. As "Europeans", they are Frogs, Huns, Ities, Dagos and the rest. They become our enemies and rivals. They get our enmity.

The "colleagues" need to wake up to this before it is too late. Leave us be, without trespassing on the "nooks and crannies" of our daily life and we are friends. Interfere and threaten us, and we are enemies.
It's sad. But it seems true.

Not so self-solving after all

The negotiations for a 'Danish option' cabinet, a minority VVD-CDA cabinet, supported by the PVV, are entering their third week. By all accounts this week will be make or break. The most notable about the start of this week is the silence, the baited breath if you will, descending upon the Dutch MSM.

What we did see today was the news that of the civil servants corps in the Netherland, 11% expect 'conflicts of conscience' when a Danish cabinet takes office, while 42% thinks it bad for the Netherlands if it does (whatever the hell that means).

To put this in a bit of context: Over a year ago we reported on what then looked like a self-solving problem. The problem being a bloated bureaucracy, the self-solving solution the fact that in May last year more then half of civil servants employed by the national government stated they would refuse to work for a government that include the PVV. Given that such would mean a breach of the oath of office, that stated desire for refusal effectively meant that over 50% of government civil servants were willing to be sacked over the PVV taking part in government

But now, only a year later, a 'Danish' cabinet, including the PVV in a supporting role, is increasingly likely. And all those heroes of conscience of yesteryear are rethinking their options. Now, only a measly 1% indicate they are contemplating resignation, while another 6% may (I repeat: MAY) start looking for gainful employment elsewhere.

And thus it emerges that our problems with too many state civil servants and a bloated bureaucracy are not so self-solving after all. As was to be expected, the parasites are loath to let go of the host. More's the pity...

The unfairness of it all

Compare and contrast these two titbits I got from Jim Hoft today:

First, Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, showing the current political leadership over there is set to see the Ground Zero Mosque built, is calling for an investigation into the opposition of this dreadful project.
There is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some. And I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque is being funded.
And Second, the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, once a tiny, four-story building in the shadows of lower Manhattan, was destroyed in 2001 by one of the falling World Trade Center towers. Nobody from the church was hurt in the attack, but the congregation has, for the past eight years, been trying to rebuild its house of worship. Today it emerged that New York officials have killed the plans to rebuild the Greek Orthodox Church near Ground Zero.

Isn't that extraordinary? The two WTC towers were brought down by followers of islam, deliberately committing an act of war. The same religion that inspired the mass murder of 3,000 ordinary citizens will have a monstrous monument to its glory built on the exact same patch of New York where the act was committed. With the consent of the leaders of the country and city that were so brutally violated by this act. Yet a small church, as much a victim of the atrocity committed by muslims as the 3,000 citizens that lost their lives, is not allowed to be rebuilt in its former spot.

It is the unfairness of it all, the abject surrender to violence and complete betrayal of the victims, that fills ones eyes with hot tears of disappointment and rage. What has happened to America? What is happening to us?

[UPDATE001] The American Thinker is also asking questions: What about St Nicholas Church?, referring to the 'religious freedom' remarks in President Obamas Iftar speech. Incidentally, elsewhere on the same site J.R. Dunn is convinced that the now infamous Iftar speech may have been a faux-pas from which Obama will never recover. Says Dunn: "The tide has gone out for Barack Obama. It is all epilogue from here on in."

A useful term

On Pajamas Media we find an interesting piece by Oleg Atbashian on the meaning and implications of a term that hasn't been used openly at all, but rings true to everyone observing political developments around Western Civilization: The Professional Left.
The term “professional left” denotes a growing industry that specializes in converting other people’s money into an ideological product, while making a good living out of it in the process. (...)

There is a class of people with radical leftist views who have made it their job — with the help of abundant grants, foundations, and trusts — to carry out propaganda campaigns, indoctrinate, subvert, and plant the seeds of the leftist worldview in people’s minds through the arts, media, education, blogging, and street protests. For many it’s the only income they’ve had in years. As with most professional enthusiasts, after a while the pre-paid idealism gives way to cynicism, and the quest for truth turns into a mechanical repetition of talking points.
Doesn't that sound eerily familiar? Here in the Netherlands we have our own examples of the professional leftist. Like disgraced former MP Wijnand Duyvendak. Of course, the prime example of a 'professional leftard' is president Obama, who’s entire career has been about organizing, sustaining, and advancing the professional left and their operations.

The term 'professional left' deserves to become a main-stream term. Because it is such a very useful term, in that it encompasses the entire steady parade of fools and non-valeurs riding their high horse through segments on Dutch TV news. In time the term should become one of derision, ridiculing or dismissing those who've never earned a honest wages in their life, but live off public money, like tse-tse flies living off the blood of their victims. Who never have held a productive job, who's only contribution to society is sanctimonious horseshit, paid for by subsidies and tax money.

All professional leftists should be ignored or ridiculed, shut out of civil society, cut off from funding. Because their views on matters of economy, the human condition, politics and morality are misguided and frankly pathologically delusional views. Their methods are corrupt and often criminal. And the their goals, if enacted or reached, can only lead to disaster and human misery.

Why are we still in?

Via Wolf Howling, we have Iris Binstead of Save Our Sovereignty listing a few of the top issues which are making the EUnion such a threat to freedom, prosperity and sovereignty. You know, all the things that they told us the EUnion would guarantee.

Starting with the privacy and freedom of speech killing European Investigation Order and the European Arrest Warrant (covered here earlier), the list touches upon the EUnion power grab in the financial sector and member states budgets, describing the still looming solvency crisis within the EUnion, even as the EUnion is demanding ever more funds for its own.

It also mentions the Common Agricultural Policy and the Common Fishing Policy, which perversely have turned Third World countries into paying the EUnion, while having their fishing grounds depleted by mostly French and Spanish fishermen.

The list ends with enumerating some of the completely wasteful, unnecessary and fantastically costly regulations that the EUnion have foisted upon us, including the Working Hours directive and the completely surreal Climate Change Act.

After reading that list of complaints, one is left to wonder: Why are we still in?

And in our economic news...

EUrefs Richard North looks up... gazes around and sees this. Dives sharply for cover.
You don't have to be an expert to know this is funny money – and it's going to go belly up. In fact – as always – the only people who don't know are the experts.
And to drive the point home, here's Vox Day: The death of Keynesian economics in one simple graph. The graph coming from a report by Eric Sprott and David Franklin of Sprott Asset Management LP entitled Fooled by the Stimulus (pdf), which also isn't a very reassuring read.

Property rights abolished in Amsterdam

These days all and sundry on the Dutch left are decrying Geert Wilders as a potential threat to Justice and Rule of Law. But in Amsterdam, those two fine concepts have been all but abolished. Not by Wilders or his minions, but by the exact same Left that is howling with rage at the injustice of Wilders' participation in a minority government.

Amsterdam city council, in its infinite wisdom, has decided that owners of a second home in Amsterdam are to be forced to rent out their home: Amsterdam annexes homes (NL).
Having a small second home of a few tens of square meters is not allowed in Amsterdam. City council tracks owners of such so-called pied-à-terres down and orders them to rent out their small apartment in the social sector for a few hundred euros a month.

However, buying a home in the city usually costs more then 200.000 euros. The mortgage burden thus quickly rises of a thousand euros monthly. City council only asks 548 euros rent, the maximum for social housing set by Amsterdam.

Those that refuse to co-operate will be fined several thousand euros. Amsterdam city council has sent summons to some 750 home owners. Amsterdam refers to its Regional Housing Order as a justification.
The letter sent out to home-owners can be viewed here (NL).

Amsterdam has a tradition of being ruled by the PvdA in different, mostly left-leaning coalitions. De Dagelijkse Standaard (NL), also covering this outrage, refer to Amsterdam as 'Stalingrad on the Amstel'. So, a measure like this, essentially ending private property rights, should not come as a surprise.

Nevertheless it is quite shocking to find out that authorities presume to have the power (if not the right) to decide for owners what they should do with their property. If I buy a house in Amsterdam: What is it I am buying? A neat stack of brick and mortar that I can call my own? Or is it the opinion of Amsterdam city council that the stack is theirs, and I only have bought a license to live in their city? A license that can be revoked or changed as the Amsterdam authorities see fit.

The most important question though is: Will this measure stand? Will one or several owners of such second homes have the balls (and the funds) to sue Amsterdam city council for this violation of property rights? If not, the inevitable conclusion may have to be that private property rights in Holland are dead. This is not responsible policy, this is totalitarian thievery.

If that *is* the case, we are entering very dangerous territory. A government that is able (or presumes it is) to take away your house at a whim, is a government that can not be relied upon, that cannot be trusted to abide by its own rules. And regimes that lose the trust of the people are not conducive to a stable, peaceful and happy society. They usually don't last that long either, nor are they typically replaced in a peacefully, orderly and bloodless fashion.

Is there still justice in the world?

On Haaretz (via HVV): Muslim leaders to abandon plans for Ground Zero community center.

Are they finally seeing the light?

[UPDATE001] Evidently not. According to New York Daily News the Haaretz report is unfounded. BigGov have the news.

[UPDATE002] Then again: Arabs distance themselves from Ground Zero Mosque.
Many Muslims fear that the mosque will become a shrine for Islamists, which would remind Americans of what Muslims did on 9/11 (...) Some people express concern that if the mosque will be built, it will harm Muslims and Islam in America. It’s not good for Muslims and Islam to be in the heart of such a controversy

A very expensive insult

Via SubRosa:
President van Rompuy is a very expensive insult to the taxpayers of Europe.

He is unelected, having been chosen during a dinner. His annual salary of £273,814 is greater than that of President Obama and, although funded by the taxpayer, he cannot be voted out of office.

However, this is a drop in the ocean compared to the £252 million being spent on the creation of a palace for him to work in. President van Rompuy is part of the new overpaid and unelected political elite which is now the real Government of Britain and all the other member states.
Lord Stoddart of Swindon, co-president of the Campaign for an Independent Britain (CIB) with Sir Richard Body, dryly summing up the reality of the EUnion and it's (not mine!) president.

Why is it we don't have anyone in the Netherlands who dares to roundly condemn the farce that is the EUnion for what it is?

Won't be missed

The left wing of the Dutch Christian democrats is becoming increasingly desperate over the party's involvement in a minority cabinet that will be supported by Geert Wilders' PVV. Party luminaries such as Doekle Terpstra (yes, him) have already tried to convince the party's leadership to pull out of the negotiations. To them governing with Wilders, even if only in a supporting role, is beyond the pale. For a good overview I refer you to Snoucks write-up: Christian democrats dragged along kicking and screaming

But all the to-ing and fro-ing has been to no avail. Last week Elsevier reported (NL) that 80% of CDA voters support negotiations and the formation of a 'Danish' cabinet.

Thus it is no surprise that a 'grass roots' initiative to petition against the negotiations by the CDA was roundly defeated by a counter initiative. The initiative "We stand for our constitutional rights", working on the false premise that Wilders' participation on the governing of our little corner of the world will instantly abrogate the constitution, after which trains will ride once again, bound for Eastern Europe, to transport all people of colour away from the low lands, managed to secure 811 signatures, even after considerable media exposure. The counter initiative, "We stand behind the CDA" managed to attract 1,400 signatures (as of writing this post) in less time, and with a lot less MSM attention.

Even the fossilized ex-CDA prime minister Andries van Agt (p) was brought to bear. His views on the reasons why Wilders should be out of bounds for true Christian democrats are easily dismissed, though. One needs to only point out how this giant amongst political thinkers defiled the memory of those lost in WW2 by attending and speaking on a conference, held on Liberation Day 2007. in support of Hamas. That is the thinking of Dries van Agt: Supporting Hamas is perfectly legitimate, granting Wilders' democratically gained mandate, however, is not.

But the absolute low point in this campaign against the formation of a centre right minority cabinet came this afternoon, when German CDU Euregio member Franz-Joseph Achterkamp decided to wade in the Dutch political debate: German criticism on CDA (NL, abbreviated EN reporting here).
The damaging and often disgraceful statements by leader Wilders are diametrically in opposition to the views shared by CDA and CDU within the European Christian-democracy.
I was a bit puzzled by that 'leader' bit ('führer' in German). Was this a bit of awkward translation, of was this a not so subtle Godwin? Well, never mind...

The big question that keeps me occupied is this: Where does this fat, ignorant Kraut come off telling us (Dutch CDA-ers) what to do, with whom to govern and generally how to behave? I thought in international affairs it was considered bad form to interfere in national political life. But evidently Herr Achterkamp considers himself fit to pronounce verdict. Is he Dutch? Does he consider de Dutch German?

Dear Herr Achterkamp, we haven't forgotten the last time the Germans insinuated themselves (rather forcefully) on Dutch political life. It took us (we and you!) around 40 years to mend fences after that little episode. Are you really sure you want to be the one to un-mend those fences? Do you really want to return to the days of living next to a country where the quietly hostile population made a habit out of consistently giving you wrong directions and kept asking for a return of their bikes?

This is not your country. I repeat: this is not your country. We are not the reserve-Germans you lot (by which I mean Germans of the political elites) make us out to be. We are Dutch and you do not govern or 'advise' us. So sit down, shut up, and let us get on with it.

Be that as it may, the fact that the left wing squadrons of the CDA are now even looking to allies abroad to bolster their case gives a good indication of the measure of desperation they are feeling. Their time has come and gone. There is nothing they can do about it. They just don't (want to) know it yet.

So, to Dries and Doekle, to Franz-Joseph and all the signatories on "We stand for our constitutional rights": Goodbye. You won't be missed.

Hockey Stick goes poof II

By now the infamous Hockey Stick has been fully discredited. But outside of the skeptics circles this is not very known, or readily accepted for that matter. All of that may change now. A really real scientific paper made it through the peer-review process and will be published in the next issue of the Annals of Applied Statistics.

The paper, entitled A Statistical Analysis of Multiple Temperature Proxies: Are Reconstructions of Surface Temperatures Over the Last 1000 Years Reliable?, does a thorough job of confirming McIntyre and McKitrick’s work.

The authors write that the Hockey Stick is not a necessarily in the data. Rather, the very method used in Mann et al. (1998) guarantees the shape of the Hockey Stick. Additionally, they found that randomly generated pseudo-proxies were in some cases MORE predictive then the actual proxies used to construct the Hockey Stick.

Head on over to WUWT for the scoop: BREAKING: New paper makes a hockey sticky wicket of Mann et al 98/99/08.

This is of course not new to most of us. Back in October of last year we linked to a post by Lucia's Blackboard explaining in lay-means term, how to apply statistical methods in such a way that a hockey stick type graph is guaranteed. Even if you use a random number generator.

But the fact that this paper will appear in the official literature, having made it through peer-review, makes it that much harder to deny there's anything wrong with the poster-child of global warming.

Other climate related news from WUWT: Great Britain seems to be rethinking the ridiculous CO2-reduction commitments made by the previous Labour government. The British government is even contemplating auctioning off the climate gate CRU.

And to put insult to injury: Via EURef we learn there may be something terribly wrong with the NOAA satellite data on global temperatures: Satellite Failure May Mean a Decade of Global Warming Data Doubtful. According to the link the data may even be so unreliable as to be worthless.

Rumours of war

From Yoni Tidi, without further comment:
I have had a long briefing from a contact at home. Look for war breaking out at the end of the month.

Evidence is building that shows things are marching toward a major war.

1. Hizbullah has dug tunnels into northern Israel.

2. Hizbullah has 60,000 rockets many with chemical war heads.

3. USA aircraft carrier was supposed to head back to USA and is waiting at Malta

4. Israeli satellite captured photos of submarine off loading weapons to Hizbullah in Northern Lebanon intelligence later showed weapons were special chemical weapons engineered to eat through protective equipment. This agent may now be loaded on Hizbullah rockets.

5. Israel Air Force training in long range missions, jets, helicopters which would suggest commando raids a long way from home.

6. IDF reserves called up and trained at an abnormal pace.

7. Israel delivers letter to UN, Lebanon and USA showing where Hizbullah has hidden rocket in civilian areas. Israel tell Hizbullah to move the weapons or we will hit them where they are.

8. Israeli subs sitting off Iran

9. IAF has airbase in Saudi Arabia

10. Israeli intelligence has captured data showing Hizbullah will preemptively attack Israel at months end, objective to take out IAF bases so our planes cannot hit Iran.

[UPDATE001] While pointing to a pertinent piece by Caroline Glick, reader DP111 makes a point I should have thought of myself:
Just bear in mind, what happened on the streets of Europe when Israel, after months of patience, attacked Hamas.

Now think what will happen in London, Paris, Amsterdam, etc, if Israel decides to take out Iran's nuclear facilities.
I did a piece on that for cryin' out loud! And one year on, a new conflagration in the Middle East, involving Israel, will likely have even bigger consequences in the West.

Geert Wilders, the Ground Zero mosque and too much protest

From the KV mail box:
Geert Wilders to New York on 9/11

Geert Wilders will be speaking in New York on September 11 at a protest demonstration against the building of a mega mosque near Ground Zero.

The demonstration, organized by SIOA (Stop Islamization Of America), takes place at 2pm at Park Place between Church and West Broadway, near Ground Zero.
Other speakers include Newt Gingrich, 9/11 Parents and Families of Firefighters & WTC Victims.

By accepting this invitation, Geert Wilders expresses his support for the people opposing the building of a mosque near the place where Islam committed the worse atrocity of the past decade. The attack on the WTC towers on 9/11, 2001, was an attack on the entire Western civilization.
This of course was met with the many quite insincere sounding warnings from within Dutch elite circles. It all is a bit reminiscent of the Fitna fracas back in the day. Head on over to Gates of Vienna for the low-down.

History matters

You'd think, growing up in a PC society in the West, that our current wealth would have been begotten over the backs of the down-trodden in the formerly colonial settlements we used to ruthlessly exploit. But you'd be wrong.

Here's something quite interesting. An economic paper looking at predictors of current national wealth: Was the Wealth of Nations Decided in 1000 AD?. As the authors argue, the main predictor of current national wealth is the measure of technological advance in the 16th century, around the high point of the Renaissance. Way before the colonialism and imperialism of the 17th and 18th century.

This must come as a shock to the flower-children who place the birth of civilization around 1968: History does matter. History matters a great deal. As one of the authors states in a related blog-post:
A large role for history is still likely to sit uncomfortably with modern development practitioners, because you can’t change your history. But we have to face the world as it is, not as we would like it to be: deal with it. Perhaps when you acknowledge the importance of your own history, you are then more likely to transcend it.
Something this blog (and let us not forget Fjordman) have argued again and again: Know your history!

EDL goes to Amsterdam

In a statement dated July 24th, English Defence League Tommy Robinson announced that the EDL will demonstrate in Amsterdam on Saturday September 30th in support of Geert Wilders, just prior to the resumption of his trial on October 4th.
The EDL has been in contact with our European brothers and sisters and we have decided that on Saturday 30th October the European defence League will be demonstrating in Amsterdam in support of Geert, we hope that all of you will be able to join us for this, what promises to be a landmark demonstration for the future of the defence leagues.
Elsewhere, a Dutch chapter of the EDL (the DDL, as if you had to ask) is being set up. There is a website even.

Quote of the day

Liberals. Always one revolution away from happiness. ALWAYS.

I found this pearl in the comments of Cassy Fiano's blog. I ended up there through a post by Vox Day on the latest non-scandal US liberals are trying to stir up with regard to the campaign of conservative North Dakota governor John Hoeven.

From this side of the Big Pond the 'scandal' is not that interesting. Apart from maybe the illustration of the double standard leftards usually apply to tar conservative opponents. But the statement in the comments on Cassy Fiano's is pure gold.

On hiatus

As the governing of the Dutch seems to be going Danish, yours truly is doing the same in a more literal sense. This evening I'm heading out to Vejle (Denmark) on work related business. It promises to be an intensive week, leaving me with little time to follow, much less post, blogs.

So, I'd like to apologize for little to no posting. Next weekend we'll be back. Hopefully with good news about a new, right wing government in the Netherlands.

Until then you are cordially invited to visit the links given on the right, to stay abreast of what I think is important news. See you on the other side of the coming week.
