The Queen and the Somali plot

In her Christmas speech, Queen Beatrix told people to show solidarity with others in society. She said we should try to find a good balance between ‘us’ and ‘them’. Fear and suspicion could be vanquished if people adopted a social perspective. She urged people to involve each other in solving problems and stressed that we all belong to a single society in which every individual needs to feel safe.

The danger exists that what we have in common is ignored while differences and contrasts are exaggerated. We should be ready to recognise our own prejudices and consider the consequences of our behaviour for others and for society as a whole. Her majesty said we should treat others the way we’d like them to treat us.

These high-minded thoughts were nullified immediately afterward by the news that 12 Somali suspects of plotting a terror attack had been arrested in Rotterdam and Gilze-Rijen. Apparently, they were planning to shoot down an Apache attack helicopter at Gilze-Rijen airforce base, home to 85 of such aircraft.

In the mean time all but one of the suspects have been released. The expectations are that all will be free (NL) in the immediate future for lack of (admissible) evidence.

But there is something fishy about the group of suspects. This we learn from Somali news site Suna Times, which tells us one of the suspects is Mohamed Kahiye Garmashaqo, the father of Farhan Mohamed Kahiye, the commander of Al-Shabaab, a group of Somali jihasts, recently in the news for demanding from US president Obama 'to embrace Islam before we come to his country' and carry out terrorist attacks on US soil.

And the connections to Al-Shabaab don't end there.

Two of the other 11 people being interrogated by the police were confirmed to have been members of Alshabaab who were planning the attacks in Netherlands.

The father of the Alshabaab commander runs a shop in Rotterdam along with an illegal money remittence company called Olympic Money transfer as well call shops.

Somali community in Netherlands told Sunatimes that at least Mohamed Kahiye used to send more than $200,000 in disguise family bills by the community as the money directly falling into the hands of Alshabaab in Somalia.

According to Suna Times the PC's in Mohamed Kahiye's phone shop contained digital copies of documents related to transfers of money to Al-Shabaab. Additionally it tells us that Mohamed Kahiye lied about his identity when applying for asylum in the Netherlands. Sources in the Dutch Somali community told the Suna Times he used the alias Mohamed Abdullahi Roble to seek asylum in the Netherlands. Given the precedent set in the case of Ayaan Hirsi Ali, undoubtedly we can expect our authorities to throw the bum out post-haste (he said with a sarcasm unbecoming of the season).

Sources close to the Royal House have stated that the Queen was quite sour (NL) about the news of the Somali plot in Holland coming out immediately after her Christmas speech. She felt her message to indigenous Dutch to show even more understanding and tolerance towards immigrants was completely wiped off the table.

Apparently Queen Beatrix was not in the loop about the arrests. Afterward she is said to have preferred the news of the arrests to be withheld until after Christmas, so as to preserve her message of blessed multi-culturalism to the Dutch. She feels somewhat humiliated and is quite miffed some lowly civil servant made her multi-cult excoriation of the Dutch null and void, by releasing the news that a number of her exotic wards were plotting harm in direct opposition to her idealistic image of immigrants to the Netherlands.

The Queen feels she has made a fool of herself. And she would be right. For years now the Dutch have given all but the shirt of their back to accommodate immigrants. And most immigrants give their best in return, it has to be said. But there is a certain group of immigrants, of a certain faith, who persist in rewarding the opportunities given them with ingratitude, contempt and outright hostility. How much tolerance and understanding do we grant those that would take that and use it to plot against the very people showing that tolerance and understanding? One would hope the Queen is not too proud to draw some wisdom from this little episode.

A merry Christmas to all

Tonight is Christmas Eve, when we commemorate Our Dear Lord coming down to live among us in human form. The Word was made flesh, as the apostle tells it.

Klein Verzet is on a Christmas break. Probably until the new year that awaits us beyond the 31st of December of the year that was 2010. Time away from the blogs and a time to focus the mind on the positive aspects of life: Family, friends and faith.

This year we'll leave you with a video that has been going around for a while now. It is a 'flash mob' choir singing Georg Friedrich Händels 'Hallelujah' from the 'Messiah' oratorio. The unlikely venue is a food-court in a rather pedestrian shopping mall.

Watch the reaction of the crowd. And note how beauty is all the more striking when it is confronted in such an every day and unexpected setting. Also pay a little attention to your own reaction. And reflect a little on what that may mean.

Promises broken, vows forgotten

Via Gawain's twitter, we get an interesting article written by Hans-Werner Sinn is Professor of Economics and Public Finance, University of Munich on the atrocious manner in which the eurozone has been managed this last decade: Europe’s Instability Mechanism.

By 2010, Europe was to be “the most competitive and dynamic knowledge-based society in the world.” This was the official proclamation in 2000 of the European Commission in the so-called Lisbon Agenda. Now a decade has passed since that bold pledge, and it is official: Europe is the world’s growth laggard rather than its champion. While current EU members grew by 14% over the last ten years, North America grew by 18%, Latin America by 39%, Africa by 63%, the Middle East by 60%, Russia by 59%, Singapore, South Korea, Indonesia, and Taiwan by 52%, India by 104%, and China by 171%.

The Europeans wanted to achieve their goal through, among other means, further environmental protection and more social cohesion – desirable aims, but certainly not growth strategies. The Lisbon Agenda turned out to be a joke.

The European Stability and Growth Pact also has delivered not what is promised, according to prof. Sinn. Since it's inception the 3% fiscal deficit limit has been breeched 97 times.

In 29 of these cases, the breaches were permissible, because the countries were in recession. In the remaining 68 cases, however, deficits above 3% of GDP were clear violations of the Pact, and the European Council of Finance Ministers (Ecofin) should have imposed sanctions. Yet not a single country was ever penalized.

The vow to never have other member states pay for the debt of another was also forgotten. Ireland and Greece were bailed out in direct violation of Article 125 of the Lisbon Treaty Turnip.

That doctrine of hard discipline was abolished in a coup in May 2010, when it was claimed that the world would collapse unless Germany opened its purse.

In the case of Greece it is now clear that the supreme Greek supervisory authority had “deliberately falsified” the data. But Greece was already in, and able to take its fellow EU members hostage, as prof. Sinn calls it.

Then the temporary bail-out pot became permanent. But the participation of creditor banks, which had long been the conditio sine qua non for the German government, was downgraded to optional status.

Lastly, the European Central Bank vowed a year ago, it would not accept BBB- rated government bonds. That, too, went out the window in May, when the ECB started buying Greek junk bonds.

All this may lead to not a very happy end, as prof Sinn argues that the first step toward a potential chain of government insolvencies in Europe has been taken. The risk may be limited today, but it will become larger should the new ESM become full-coverage insurance against insolvency with no burden-sharing by creditors. In view of the foreseeable demographic risks from pension entitlements, a time bomb may now have been set ticking.

Promises have been broken, solemn vows forgotten. All to keep the EUnion and the euro together. All at the cost of very limited, even anaemic economic growth. In a very real sense the EUnion is thus impoverishing us. And yet they demand even more money from our purses. Can we leave now?

[UPDATE001] And as if to hammer the point home, the Wall Street Journal: ECB Set to Become World’s Largest Junk Bond Fund. The conclusion is becoming inevitable: The EUnion isn't going to throw us into poverty. It has already done so. That knocking you hear is the debt collector at your door.

Worrying news

From Esther we get a bit of worrying news: Jihadis fleeing to Europe (emphasis mine - KV).

French newspaper Le Figaro says that around twenty Jihadis (FR) infiltrated Greece, Germany and France. The new threat comes from a group of about 50 dangerous Jihadis caught between the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp in southern Lebanon and the Lebanese army. (...)

[Palestinian Colonel Mahmoud Issa, in charge of security in Ain al-Hilweh] says that they are a threat to European security. If they don't go to Iraq or Afghanistan like others from Ain al-Hilweh, it's because they were told to go fight in Europe.

When asked whether it's al-Qaeda or other regional sponsors, Issa just smiles. One thing is clear, he says, these people are being used by certain powers. They do not lack money, and can stay in their homes for months waiting for instructions.

Somebody somewhere apparently is trying to start a campaign of jihadi terror in Europe, according to this item. There's a nice thought going into the holidays.

The group of twenty travelled through Syria and Turkey and from there entered Greece and Bulgaria illegally and without passports. There they bought fake ID for a few hundred dollars. Some were arrested in Sofia, others deported by the Greeks and Bulgarians. But not all, according to Colonel Issa. Three names cropped up during investigations by French security forces: Imad Karoum, Youssef Kayed and Ahmad Sidawi. Esther has some background on two of these characters.

Expletive deleted

Sometimes it is hard not to burst out in blasphemous expletives when reading the news. Here's just such an item: NL pays Turkish anti-Wilders film (NL).

Turkish TV recently broadcast an item about 'growing islamophobia' and the ascendancy of Geert Wilders in the Netherlands. Victimhood is flying thick and fast in the interviews with Dutch Turks, with one being quoted as saying "They'd rather take a Dutch person, even if your highly educated and simply better then that Dutch person". A second interviewee maintains that "the Dutch are more radical than before", with a third adding that the Netherlands and Western Europe are "a powder keg". This leads to a conclusion by one of the journalists that "Holland is one of the countries where the animosity towards immigrants is most strongly felt".

Not content with setting the tone in this manner, the item adds a nice semi-Godwin towards the end.

'It is not so complicated what is happening in the Netherlands', reporter Sibel Karakuzu of Turkish state broadcaster TRT says. 'The euro was introduced, there's an economic crisis and employment is lost. The easiest thing is to point at people that do not originate from your country. You had Jörg Haider, now you have Geert Wilders'.

So far, so annoying. But here's the real kicker: Holland paid for that bit of trash talk on Turkish TV!

Afraid for the image of the Netherlands abroad, what with Wilders formally lending support to the Danish cabinet, our government set up a campaign to improve that image. Within the framework of that campaign a number of Turkish journalists were invited for a tour of the Netherlands, ostensibly to celebrate 400 years of diplomatic ties, and work their impressions into a video item. You have to give it to them: This they did with a vengeance.

Grovelling at the feet of the islamic world evidently is still with us, even if the great originator of this policy, our intrepid former PM Jan Peter Balkenende has left the scene. This story shows what profits such groveling ultimately brings: More humiliation. All their expenses paid, pampered by government officials, these ungrateful bastards journalists go home and produce work that spits on their host and plays the victim card for Turks in Holland (no, apparently they are not Dutch Turks).

This being a government initiative, it is your money (and mine) that has been lavished on these Turkish journalists. We're paying ourselves for the privilege of having our faces dragged through shit on foreign TV. Well, (blasphemous expletive deleted), this has got to stop. What good is an image campaign, what good is all the anxious grovelling at the feet of islam, if the beneficiaries in said campaign keep treating us like cheap heroin whores?

Sharia for Holland

This week the Netherlands were culturally enriched with a new group, Shariah4Holland. Head on over to Esther for the scoop.

Right now the outfit is nothing more then a Youtube channel, with video highlights such as some primitive beard by the name of Abou Imran telling our Queen Beatrix she should submit to islam. Standard islamist fair, ridiculous and overbearing. According to Trouw (NL), Shariah4Holland describes itself as 'a group of Dutch young people' who are prepared 'to fight for legislation from Allah'. Additionally they will only stop 'when death overtakes us or the flag of shariah will wave above the Royal House in The Hague'. Also, Shariah4Holland looks 'with a bleeding heart (...) at the number of so-called muslims that go to voting stations to vote for democracy'. Just the movement the Netherlands were waiting for, no?

What is quite interesting, though, is to see who in Dutch society are sympathetic to the idea of turning the Netherlands into a sharia hell-hole. The first indication was from De Dagelijkse Standaard: Dutch UN youth representative sympathizes with Sharia4Holland.

Just like any other modern organisation Shariah4Holland has a Facebook page with at the moment of writing has 128(!) friends. One of these friends is Elsa van de Loo (...) a muslim convert that represented Dutch youth with in United Nations. In that capacity she represents Dutch youth on matters of international co-operation and human rights.

Which goes quite naturally hand in hand with sympathizing with an outfit like Shariah4Holland, you will all agree.

In a follow-up DDS note van de Loo distancing herself from Shariah4Holland, saying her befriending Shariah4Holland was 'by accident and subconscious'. But they discover a whole list of Dutch, unsurprisingly of the left persuasion, who apparently think the goals of Shariah4Holland are all swell ideas:

The website Nieuw Religieus Peil (NL) adds the names of Hakim Traidia, miming clown in the Dutch version of  Sesame street and rapper Salah Edin.

In the mean time the National Co-ordinator for counter-terrorism has stated that the statements by Shariah4Holland are reason to 'keep a finger on the pulse'. And according to Elsevier (NL): Geert Wilders wants members of this illustrious organisation summarily de-naturalized and expelled. Something we heartily agree with.

Spitting in our food

In the ongoing case of 'stealth halal', featured earlier on KV here and here, there was some news last week: Almost all Dutch (Gouda and Edam) cheese in Dutch supermarkets is halal. And nobody knows or is being told.

We learned all this form an item in the little viewed TV magazine 'Uitgesproken'. The broadcast in question can be found here (NL). The pertinent section starts at 11:30.

The gist of it: Friesland Campina, arguably the largest supplier of supermarket cheese, produces halal cheese. In fact all but one of the brands of cheese is halal.

To produce cheese, milk has to be coagulated. This can only be done by using rennet, which is extracted from the stomach of butchered calves. In the case of halal cheese (at this point you may already have guessed) the rennet comes from halal butchered calves.

Dutch halal cheese has been with us for over a year now. In an internal email from January 2008, quoted here, Friesland Campina says:

The biggest change is that we will start to use halal calve obamasum rennet (rennet from ritually butchered calves). From December 1st onwards all cheese factories should have made the transition to halal rennet. (...)

Timing
The goal is that all cheese whey will be halal certified by February 1st, 2009.

The reason for this is as depressingly mundane as it is shocking:

The demand for halal lactose for halal child food is far greater then the supply. The profit from halal lactose suitable for children's food is € 0,25 per kilo higher then lactose for regular food applications. Lactose is made from cheese whey from, amongst others, the Campina cheese factories. That is why we want to have our cheese whey certified.

You may wonder why the fact that this ambition to become 'halal certified', or that all cheese from Friesland Campina factories is now halal, was never communicated.Or why Friesland Campina refused an interview on camera for the Uitgesproken item. Evidently Friesland Campina is quite reticent, embarrassed even, about letting us know in what manner their cheese has been produced. The reason is not hard to fathom. Halal is part of shariah law and as Afshin Ellian notes in the item: If a label "Conform Shariah" were to be put on a product it would instantly stop selling.

In the same vain we learned that Nutrilon baby food is 100% halal (NL), or that Hollands largest supermarket chain, Albert Heijn, cannot guarantee its meat products are not halal. We learn this from De Dagelijkse Standaard (NL), who published en exchange of emails between ALbert Heijn and an inquisitive consumer. When asked directly by the attentive consumer, Albert Heijn customer service answered:

We feel that if it is desirable that meat streams are to be fully separated, it is the government that has the task of demanding proof of stunned butchering. At the moment only halal butchered meat can be proven. The reversed burden of proof, proof of non-halal butchered meat, is not possible, because [normal butchering] is common practice.

However, Albert Heijn can give the guarantee that our meat and out meat products are from animals that have been butchered while stunned.

This seems reassuring, but note the bait and switch here: In trying to assure the inquisitive customer that his daily bit of flesh is not halal, Albert Heijn say the animals in question were stunned before butchering. Which is emphatically not the same. Halal butchering does not mean unstunned butchering. The website Path of Islam is clear about the subject (emphasis is mine - KV): Meat from stunned animals is Halal.

The most important of these when it comes to meat being Halal is that the animal is slaughtered in a set prescribed manner, which includes pronouncing the name of God while cutting the neck of the animal. (...)

Stunning is used to lessen the pain the animal feels when it is later slaughtered. Stunning is not killing and, if performed with a correct method, should not lead to death. The Ulema say that as long as the animal is not killed by the stunning, then the meat of a stunned animal is Halal.

In short: The main issue with halal butchering is not whether an animal was stunned or not before having its throat slit. Rather, the main issue seems to be invoking the name of Allah when the throat is slit, while the animals head is pointing towards Mecca. As Abdullah Ali-Salah, boss of the organisation Halal Correct, that provides halal certificates, explains in the Uitgesproken item, it is a short prayer: "Bismallah, Allahu Akbar" (In the name of Allah, Allah is greatest).

This raises the suspicion that Albert Heijn is trying to be cute with the facts. By trying to make 'halal' synonymous to butchering without stunning, they are trying to gloss over the fact that halal products are blessed in the name of Allah. Or that virtually all butcheries in Holland, according to the Uitgesproken item, employ imams from such enlightened places as Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya or Egypt, to bless this, our daily bread, in the name of a deity that isn't ours.

Now we have a problem: I don't want my food to be blessed by anyone, in the name of anyone. Moreover, since I am Christian I find it incredibly offensive that the entire Dutch (and seemingly European) food industry is trying to have me unwittingly consume food that has been blessed in the name of a putrid deity that is the very antithesis of my Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit.

But there's this other aspect to this scandal, noted by Prof. Dr. Ellian. That aspect should speak to not just Christians or members of other faiths, but to all those that are committed to freedom, democracy and our own civilization: Halal butchering is part of the sharia, islamic law. By not labelling halal food, by withholding that information, the food industry is deceiving us us non-muslims into respecting muslim law, living according to muslim standards.

In fact the entire food industry is submitting us to sharia law, without even having the decency to tell us about it. And if you think I am exaggerating, I refer you to the Grand Mufti of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Halal food movement has the strength to lead Muslims to rule the global economy as the food is the basic need of every human being

All of a sudden we are back on very familiar territory, aren't we? Muslims trying to conquer the world, by waging economic jihad in this matter, in the name of the perversion they have for a god. And those we entrust with an important aspect of our daily lives, betraying us for a few measly bucks. I don't think 'betrayal' is too strong a word in this matter. However else can call it when the industry is turning all of our food into halal food, but tries to hide this from their customers? Was this supposed to be an in-joke, a bitter prank at our expense, by Friesland Campina (or Albert Heijn) and the Ummah in Holland?

We probably won't be worse off for eating it. But the food we're served is tainted nonetheless. Behold the state of our food industry these days: Rather then providing us with the best quality of our daily bread, they are spitting in it. Proper, mandatory labelling of food stuffs can't come soon enough.

Heads, I win. Tails, you lose

Funny how that works, isn't it? First they tell us Global Warming will lead to warmer winters and less snow. In fact, as Dr. North reminds us: In 2000 Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia (of climategate fame) was sure that within a few years winter snowfall will become "a very rare and exciting event".

Children just aren't going to know what snow is

This memorable item is doing the rounds in the blogosphere these days, incidentally, causing it to be one of the most viewed items in the Independent. There's something you don't see every day: A decade-old article leading that particular list.

These days Europe is dealing with a winter that is the fourth consecutive winter that is harsher then the year before. Global warming is coming down in inches and even feet. Road salt supplies are drying up even before the holidays. All this is in screaming contrast with the prediction made by Viner in 2000. You'd think that this state of affairs puts a serious dent in the credibility of the AGW theory.

But you'd be wrong.

[S]cientists say that the current cold snap does not mean that climate change is going into reverse. In fact, the surprise with which we have greeted the extreme conditions only reinforces how our climate has changed over the years.

One would venture that 'the surprise with which we have greeted the extreme conditions' could be the result of having been told, for years on end, that harsh winters were a thing of the past. You know: "Children just aren't going to know what snow is".

What Dr Myles Allen seems to be arguing here is this: Authorities believed the tripe he and his fellow charlatans were selling. So they lowered winter readiness standards. And now that a real winter is upon us, chaos ensues. And this is somehow proof that AGW is true. Really? Pull the other one, mate!

We're back with James Delingpole: Warm weather, cold weather, in-between weather, dark skies at night, light skies in the morning, it is all global warming.

Last winter we ran out of road-salt. This winter we're running out again, before the holidays even. Back in 2000 that merry band of charlatans were predicting LESS snow, not more, LESS cold, not more. They based their predictions on their own detailed hypotheses implied by the AGW theory. The predictions were wrong, and repeatedly so. Hence, the AGW theory is wrong. It is that simple.

Unless, of course, AGW is not science. When AGW is an article of faith, as many have already concluded it must be, you can twist it so that you are always right, even when you are wrong. Heads: I win. Tails: you lose.

[UPDATE001] The Royal Dutch Meteorological Institute (KNMI) adds its voice to the choir. It is 'absolute nonsense' (NL) to think global warming is over. In the UK pressure is mounting to start investigating the Met Office (see also Autonomous Mind). Methinks we should take a closer look at the KNMI as well.

They'd rather remove everything

Via Galliawatch we learn just how anti-Christian the EUnion really is.

It starts with a new planner for secondary schools produced by the European Commission. They printed three million copies of a planner that marks all Muslim Hindu, Sikh, Jewish holidays. Of course, Europe Day and other key dates of the EUnion are also included.

However, no Christian holiday whatsoever is mentioned. Even though Christianity is the religion of most Europeans. The page for December 25 is empty, except for a message at the bottom of the page saying: "A true friend is someone who shares your worries and your joy". How is that for intense, politically correct blandness?

Johanna Touzel, spokesperson for COMECE (Commission of the Bishops' Conferences of the European Union) protested, saying she found the planner "unbelievable". In reaction a spokesperson for the European Commission spoke of an "error". In the next editions that error will be corrected: future editions of this planner will include Christian holidays not mention any religious holiday at all!

That is so unexpectedly brilliant it leaves yours truly in awed silence... Rather then giving Christian holidays the same pride of place reserved for holidays of other religions, that merry band of iconoclastic heathens that is the EUnion are going to strike all mentions of religious holidays from the planner. They'll sooner remove everything than mention Christmas!

One wonders whether a EUrocrat will blister when sprinkled with holy water... Can we leave yet?

[UPDATE002] The EUnion is not the only form of government afflicted with embarrassment over its roots. In the US media pundits are now apologizing for using the word Christmas.

The end of a short career

Jews and homosexuals are increasingly forced to hide their character in public. Just recently we reported on Frits Bolkesteins remarkable statements with regard to Dutch Jews and who it is that makes life difficult for them. In a slightly more distant past we linked to a TV documentary demonstrating the aggressive dislike of Muslim yoof towards Jews.

You would think that Job Cohen, formerly mayor of Amsterdam, would be intimately aware of these problems. He is, after all, known for wanting to 'keep the lot together', for not wanting to create a divided society.

But to everyone's astonishment it was Job Cohen who declared Muslims the modern Jews. As NIS news reports (via Esther):

Muslims are excluded from present-day Dutch society, as also happened with Jews in the 1930s, in the view of Labour (PvdA) leader Job Cohen.

Cohen drew the controversial comparison in an interview with Vrij Nederlands weekly. He links his views to the rise of Geert Wilders. In reaction, the Party for Freedom (PVV) leader rejected Cohen's criticism as "disgusting."

Cohen, himself Jewish, recounts how his mother experienced around the time of the outbreak of the Second World War that Jews were slowly being excluded. He also sees this alienation now in society.

This didn't go over well at all, especially in light of a whole slew of reports about Jews and homosexuals being verbally and physically abused, even to the point of being forced to move, as was the case when a female gay couple decided to leave Amsterdam for Harderwijk (NL) after years of intimidation and abuse by Moroccan yoof.

Even De Volkskrant, a very left-wing newspaper, loyal to Labour, thought the statements by Cohen a bit too rich. Writer Shanty Ruby points out a few home-truths in an article entitled 'Job Cohens blind spot' (NL).

In his noble endeavours to avoid exclusion of our muslim brothers, Job Cohen has developed a blind spot for the increasingly precarious situation in which the two largest groups of victims of hate crime now find themselves. Amsterdam has been replaced as the gay Walhalla for years now by Berlin, Barcelona and Tel Aviv. Mokum [Yiddish designation for Amsterdam - KV] has been buried. The same minorities that were marginalized and discriminated by the Nazi's during the thirties are being oppressed once more.

Gays no longer can walk the streets hand in hand and religious Jews have to hide their kippa under a cap. It is painful to have to establish that these two groups increasingly suffer under the discrimination and aggression by young members of exactly that minority on which Cohen is projecting "the Jews of old". By turning a blind eye for this reality Cohen inadvertently belittles the persecution of Jews, as was laid down in race laws of the thirties of the last century. That is what makes this skewed comparison hit even harder.

Job Cohen was hailed as the saviour of the PvdA (Labour) and the Netherlands at large, when he re-entered national politics just prior to the general elections of June this year. That has been somewhat of a disappointment. After this tremendous faux-pas it is unlikely he will still be around for the results of the next provincial elections, coming March. And thus, this episode may mark the end of a very short career as Labour leader for Job Cohen.

Global warming coming down in inches

Anthropogenic Global Warming is hitting hard in our (usually) damp little corner of the world. Just look at the few pertinent links I've gathered from DutchNews.nl.

Cities are fast running out of road salt and we're only halfway through December. We still have at least 2/3-rds of this winter to look forward to.

But remember: This is just weather. The climate is still warming...

You just have to like him

I am not 100% in love with our new government, led by PM Mark Rutte (p). This is not exactly shocking, because when is that ever the case? I still think this new 'Danish' cabinet is too much married to transnational and green ideas. On issues of climate, the dead hand of the EUnion or ever-encroaching islamism there is in my opinion still too little of 'Let's stop a minute and think this through with some common sense'.

But a PM that says this kind of stuff (NL) is potentially one of the good guys. Let us hope (and pray, if you are so inclined) he will be able to match his words with actions.

This is what I want to project: We want to take back society from the ass-holes, heroes should be given space. The heroes, that is us, all of us who lead our lives in a normal fashion, earn our money normally, pay our taxes, raise our children right and give them a future.

You have to like him, just for saying that.

I know, this seems a bit inconsistent with my previous post. And if, despite all his good intentions, our intrepid PM is not able to withstand the forces of evil transnational socialist tyranny, it may turn out that my previous post is more pertinent then this one.

But for now, it seems that in a sea of arrogant, privilege demanding and tyrannical jobsworths (are you listening, Herman?), prime-minister Mark Rutte has his heart in the right place. Which should fill us with a little hope.

Stupid no more

We know, and it has been painful for us to arrive at this conclusion, that waving placards and signing petitions is a waste of our time. You understand violence though. So that is the inevitable path we must take. Revolution has never been successful by the signing of petitions, it has never been successful when the protagonists have stood in front of parliament waving placards. It is always successful when death, damage and violence are used to bring change. It pains me to say this to you. I am a peaceful man. Pretty much everyone I know are peaceful as well. I wish I could tell you that this will all blow over, but it won't. You have abused us for far too long. We cannot unsee the corruption in the European Union, and you are tainted because you support that unholy organisation. They steal from us, and so do you. You are guilty of collusion. You are guilty of treason. You will be weighed, you will be measured, and you will be found wanting.

Yes, it is radical. Yes, it goes against a body of indoctrination that has been with us for sixty-odd years. But when those that rule us so conspicuously abdicate their responsibilities, while continuing to demand their privileges; When protests no longer are registered and even legal, legitimate consultations of the people are shoved under the rug or side-lined; When our government stops listening to our worries, but excoriate us for not thinking the way they think; When our authorities oppress us, seeking opportunities to infringe our ancient customs and privileges, exacting from us slavish compliance; When we are robbed of all other methods of registering our non-consent, this is what is left to us.

It isn't pretty. It isn't how it is supposed to be. But it is the only choice they have left us. At the close of the first decade of the 21st century that is a conclusion that invokes much sadness. But that is how it is. How I wish it weren't, but the time is fast approaching when we will have to legally proceed to the choice of another prince for [our] defence.

Blood boiling

The news comes to us blandly enough. From the NYT: European Leaders Agree to a Permanent Crisis Fund.

Despite deep differences over how to contain their continuing debt crisis, European Union leaders agreed Thursday to create a permanent support fund for the euro after 2013 — something they hope will be a first step to calming the markets.

And thus, the bail-out pot that 'rescued' Greece and Ireland by destroying their sovereignty and independence, will become a permanent feature.

But behind the blandness of the reporting, there are some shenanigans going on that ought to be reported by a responsible MSM (if we had any): The Lisbon Treaty currently forbids a permanent bail-out pot, because it forbids the EUnion bailing out countries, unless they are struck by an unforeseen disaster. The definition of what exactly constitutes an unforeseen disaster was already bent to breaking point when the measures were taken to rescue Greece and Ireland.

For the bail-out pot to become permanent, a treaty change is needed. If it is not changed the Constitutional Court in Germany (still mulling over the legality of the Turnip with regard to the German constitution) would immediately challenge the new bail-out mechanism, leading to more or prolonged instability and possibly more debt casualties (Spain, Portugal, Belgium) and the contagion that would mean to the more robust member states.

Now, normally a treaty change would mean a fully fledged re-ratification procedure. That would precipitate a referendum on the (new) Turnip in at least the UK, and possibly elsewhere. The resentment in Europe in general and the UK in particular towards the 'European Project' is however such, that any referendum would in all likelihood mean the end of Lisbon and the EUnion in its current form.

And rather then bow down to the will of the people, which is what democracy ought to be about, the 'colleagues' have come up with a way to avoid the nastiness of consulting EUnion citizens on their views: It was agreed that the creation of the permanent mechanism needed only a 'minor' revision of the Turnip, in which case only the commission, the toy parliament and the European Council need to agree to the change. That is why the 'European Voice' (which should more aptly be called 'His Masters Voice') is confident about the outcome:

The treaty change will be approved at the European Council in March, if the three institutions have given their views by then. The text will then be sent to the 27 member states for ratification. The aim is to complete ratification by 1 January 2013 so that the mechanism can be set up in June that year.

However, the change to the Turnip is a rather big deal. Even the top EUrocrats are saying so. In the by-line in the EV article above, Barosso is quoted as saying:

These are radical changes.

Then again, his vow to do 'anything necessary to rescue the euro' would seem to include by-passing those that are growing increasingly disenfranchised by the euro and those that created the 'The most dreadful currency in history'.

Setting up a permanent bail-out mechanism creates a permanent source of 'moral hazard': Governments and banks will have no longer have to worry about reckless spending and lending, because the EUnion will shoulder the risk. Profits will be private, going to the banks. Losses will be public, paid from the permanent pot. But that pot, currently set at 440 billion, but almost certain to grow, is made up entirely from tax money. Your money. That sizable part of your hard-earned living you have to hand over to your government every month.

This sinister manoeuvring is EUnion democracy in action is made entirely possible and legal (if questionably so), because we are ruled by the Lisbon Treaty Turnip. The Turnip contains a provision, the 'passarelle' or footbridge; Article 48.6 of the Turnip details the possibility of a 'simplified procedure' to amend EU treaties (including the Turnip itself). Instead of calling a full blown IGC, this procedure would only need approval of amendments by the European Council. However, since the European Council is to become an official EU institution under the proposed treaty, this essentially means that the EU can amend existing treaties by approving them for themselves, bypassing national governments. Neat, huh?

Various commenters have warned about this feature of the Turnip. But worries about the implications have been waved off by EUrophile as just 'words on paper'. They weren't, they aren't, and at the time those that shoved the Turnip down our throats (which includes virtually in entire political class in the Netherlands, including our atrocious former PM Jan-Peter Balkenende) knew that to be the case. They lied the Big Lie and we let them get away with it. And as a result we now are ruled, not governed, by the unelected and unaccountable European Commission and European Council. And unfettered by democratic accountability (after all we don't get to vote the bastards out of office), their ambitions for a single EUnion currency will destroy our wealth and well-being, handing it over to banks and financially irresponsible governments.

It's not the rescue that gets my blood boiling. Nor is it the fact that through taxes I will have to share a part of the burden (though I don't like it). It is the arrogant, condescending way in which these unelected, undeserving dish-rags just take my (our) money to do as they please, without even having the f.cking decency to consult us or say 'thank you'. In the words of Nigel Farage: Who the hell do these people think they are?

[UPDATE001] Via Ms. Helen, in the Wall Street Journal: How Not to Save the Euro.

In 2003, Czech President Vaclav Klaus wrote that "European monetary unification is the Trojan horse for overall harmonization of economic rules, policies and laws in [the] EU. I am convinced that any euro-zone problem will be in the future interpreted as a consequence of the lack of harmonization. . . and will lead to another wave of a creeping harmonization."

It turns out Mr. Klaus was correct.

The filth get it

Little reported, but Helen is on the case: EU budget adopted.

Here is an interesting little item:

One of the biggest budget increases is 100m euros in extra funding for the Palestinians and the Middle East peace process.

Oh goody. More of our money to go on funding bloodthirsty kleptocrats in Gaza and on the West Bank, not to mention children's programmes with psychotic mice, killer bees, demented rabbits and Jihadi teddy bears.

Then there is another item of news. The budget is the budget but that is not the end of the story.

MEPs and the EU governments, which are collectively called the Council, have not yet agreed on a contingency fund to deal with emergencies, nor on financing of the Iter nuclear fusion project.

And that is before the Commission presents "a formal proposal by mid-2011 on "own resources" - ways in which the EU can boost its own finances".

Before I can even work up enough foam at the mouth for a proper rant, Richard North says what I wanted to say. And so much better too:

In a flatulent piece by The Daily Telegraph, we have a dissertation on the thieving filth in the EU parliament who, as we noted earlier, are robbing us blind.

But, instead of drawing the obvious and only sensible conclusion, weak as ditch water we have the leader writer bleat that: "The time has now come for party leaders in the UK to order their representatives in Europe to be as open with the taxpayer as national MPs are expected to be and to publish their expenses online."

The piece then concludes, "We have a right to know where our money goes" – as if we didn't know already and as if knowing in detail where it is spent would make any difference. When will these lame-brains realise that we are sick to the back teeth of this filth stealing our money, and the only answer is to stop giving them any?

With all this going on, is it any wonder that even the more thoughtful and intelligent among us are starting to contemplate 'direct action'?

Where the future of our democracy, sovereignty and liberty is threatened and peaceful protest continues to have no effect, direct action will be justified to protect and safeguard those perspectives before they are taken from us by the political class and the supranational bodies that are actively taking control of us without our consent. It is the political class that has brought us to this point and we should not feel ashamed of taking direct action where it is necessary to defend our hard won freedom, a freedom secured through the blood and sacrifice of hundreds of thousands if not millions of our countrymen over many years who forever deserve our gratitude and respect.

There will be rough times ahead, unless something fundamental changes. And changes quickly

This is inevitable

In the Telegraph: German man castrates teenage daughter's 57-year-old boyfriend.

Helmut Seifert, 47, an ethnic German originally from Russia, was enraged when he heard his 17-year-old daughter was having a relationship with Phillip Genscher, 57.

He went to police in the town of Bielefeld where he lives but officers said they were powerless to intervene.

"The man then recruited two work colleagues at his factory and then went to the house of the victim," said police.

"The man was forced to remove his trousers and, fully conscious, he was castrated. The severed testicles were taken away by the perpetrator."

The man was close to bleeding to death but managed to call police. His life was saved but he remains a eunuch for life.

Seifert pleaded guilty and will be on trial for attempted murder next year. But he has remained silent on who his accomplices were.

He told police: "I received a phone call anonymously that my daughter was involved with a guy 40 years older than her. You said you couldn't stop him – so I did.

"I saw it as my duty as a father."

There are so many things wrong with this. And yet... I don't know I wouldn't have wanted to do the same thing, if presented with the same situation.

One thing struck me, though. That is the highlighted sentence: 'You said you couldn't stop him – so I did'. As our governments continue to dishonour the social contract, we inevitably are going to see (and maybe even do) more of this.

[UPDATE001] Had I been the father of one of the victims of this piece of human waste, I would probably have had little qualms about taking a pair of pruning shears to its tender bits.

Understanding the message?

Geert Wilders is Dutch politician of the year (NL). This according to Dutch citizens who are subscribed to the 'opinion panel' of the Dutch TV current events show 'EenVandaag'. Thirty thousand of them participated in the vote, which saw our intrepid new PM Mark Rutte coming in second, while third place was for the 'rookie of the year', Socialist Party fraction leader Emile Roemer.

An earlier politician-of-the-year vote (NL), this one with only members of the press corps able to vote, had Wilders in third place, after Maxime Verhagen (2nd) and Mark Rutte (1st).

It is encouraging (and in my opinion somewhat deserved) that our PM score high in both polls. At the same time it is noteworthy that there still exists some discrepancy between what the establishment (represented by Dutch political correspondents) values, versus the opinion of the common people like you or I.

Maxime Verhagen features high on the journo's list, while barely making the top ten in the eyes of the people. That latter is not entirely deserved. Verhagen may be credited for all the political acumen, energy and sheer will he put in to make the Danish cabinet a reality.

But he's CDA. And the people remember how the CDA, under Jan-Peter Balkenende, was instrumental in side-lining the will of the people and manoeuvring Holland into the potentially totalitarian maw of the EUnion, while doing absolutely nothing about the excesses of imported islam within out borders, and actively hindering anyone who would (just remember Nekschot or Fitna). Hence, the people, unlike the press, are rather disenchanted by the CDA and the weak surrender it has stood for over the last decade (and let us pray that under Verhagen, that has come to a definitive end).

Another anomaly is Job Cohen. Normally he would have made the top ten in the EenVandaag poll on the merit of being Labour leader alone. But he failed as miserably in this poll (12th place) as he did in national politics.

All in all the polls are showing that the establishment (according to yet another poll completely without answers to current problems) and the common citizenry have quite different tastes in politics. Something any politician worth his salt should take notice of. But will they understand the message the EenVandaag poll is sending?

EUnionist realism

Gawain Towler wonders: What is art for? The EUnion seems to have some old-fashioned early to mid20th century ideas about the role of art in Western society:

Marietje Schaake a Dutch Liberal MEP has come up with this new/old idea for Culture.

1. Underlines the transversal character of culture and believes that culture needs to be considered in the widest sense, as both fostering and embodying European values, that evolved historically;
2. Stresses that democratic and fundamental freedoms such as freedom of expression, press freedom, access to information and communication, freedom of worship, freedom from want and freedom from fear, and freedom to connect, online and offline, are preconditions for cultural expression, cultural exchanges and cultural diversity;
3. Reiterates that cultural cooperation plays a role in bilateral agreements on development and trade, and through instruments such as the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP), the Eastern Partnership, the Union for the Mediterranean and the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR), which all have resources allocated to cultural programmes;

Quite rightly Gawain draws a parallel between this retardedness and the attempts to co-opt art in the political process in the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. Which is one more indication that the EUnion is a far more seedy and sinister undertaking than their lofty language would lead you to believe. If it walks like a duck...

It goes almost without saying, that the unforgivably stupid bint that suggested this is from the flamingly multicultural and europhile D66. Just one more reason to despair for the country that once was...

Al Qaeda in Holland

Via Esther we get the news that a website with ties to Al Qaeda is run by Dutch muslims: Al-Qaeda mouthpiece run by Dutch extremists (NL).

The Jihadist Ansar Al Mujahideen site is mostly run by Dutch Muslim extremists.

The Dutch behind Al Ansar not only fill the website with English and Dutch hate-texts and propaganda, but also use computer servers in Amsterdam. These Dutch Muslim extremist had close ties with the Hofstad Group in the past.

The terror cell which was recently arrested in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Austria discussed attacks in the Jewish Quarter in Antwerp, train routes, and crowded locations, and used the site collect money and recruit fighters for a Chechen Jihad group. The site is registered by Ali Mahmoud, with a Brussels PO Box. New members are only accepted to the site if they're trusted by the other Jihadists.

Ansar Al Mujahideen – one of the most important propaganda mouthpieces of al-Qaeda worldwide - is carefully watched by security services, also in the Netherlands. Sources confirm that the website is not only facilitated by the Dutch, but also financed in the Netherlands. The website publicizes official announcements by al-Qaeda.

Intelligence sources confirm that the English part of the website is run by a dozen Dutch Muslim extremists, including several women. Those Dutch members were formerly the driving force behind the now-defunct Dutch extremist website Thabaat, which was tried to members of the Hofstad Group.

The Al Ansar website also has an Arabic and German section. The secret services are concerned about the increasing use of Dutch on the site, which is responsible for publishing the 'Inspire' Jihad magazine, in which al-Qaeda recently took responsibility for sending bomb-packages from Yemen.

In the last three editions of the Jihadist magazine, intelligence servcies saw indications that Dutch were also responsible for the composition. Geert Wilders was threatened in teh second edition of Inspire.

Articles from Dutch papers are increasingly posted on the site, another clear indication of Dutch involvement behind the scenes. Discussions are more and more often written in Dutch. Many forum members hint in their names that they come from the Netherlands.

The website announced the arrest of its forum members, in Dutch. Several days ago, the Jihad website advertised a new Dutch Jihad website, ’discoverjihaad.wordpress.com’, a Dutch-language website glorifying armed struggle.

There are more and more Dutch translations of Arabic calls to violence in Western Europe. On December 1, a notice appeared in which Western Muslims were called to arm themselves with Kalashnikovs, grenades and Dragunovs (Russian sniper rifles): "The new generation of Jihad is thirsty, we want to drink blood. The best defence is to be the first to attack," according to a quote from the call to violence. The same notice spoke of Geert Wilders.

Lovely, peaceful people that do not deserve to be summarily flung out of the country (preferably over our western border), you'll all agree...

The historic Glastonbury Holy Thorn Tree was destroyed by vandals on Thursday.
The thorn tree had ties to the early days of Christianity. The vandals sawed off all of its branches down to the stump.

The Glastonbury tree is one of the most celebrated Christian pilgrimage sites in Great Britain.
The AP reported:

The rare thorn tree had ties to the early days of Christianity and pilgrims often left offerings at its base. Local children honoured it each year by cutting sprigs to place on Queen Elizabeth II’s Christmas dining table.

Now British police want to know who sawed off the historic limbs of the Glastonbury Holy Thorn Tree, reducing it to a stump. And they want to know why.
“I’ve just driven past the site, and people are coming out in tears,” said Glastonbury Mayor John Coles. “I’ve never seen a sadder sight, or a more serious act of vandalism, in my 60 years in Glastonbury.”

Glastonbury, 125 miles (200 kilometres) west of London, is best known for its annual rock music festival that has drawn artists such as Bruce Springsteen since the 1960s. Its mysterious landscape — including the Glastonbury Tor hill, which is believed by some to have magical qualities — has drawn pagan worshippers to the area for many years.

Katherine Gorbing, the director of Glastonbury Abbey, said the tree originally came from the Middle East and is a type of thorn tree common in Lebanon as well as in Europe. It typically lives about 100 years, but locals have kept it going by taking grafts and clippings from the tree to plant new ones when the existing once is nearing the end of its natural life span.

“It’s a sacred tree,” Gorbing said. “Not only for the Christian church, but for many other people.”

The tree itself, located near the summit of Wearyall Hill, is visible from many parts of rural Somerset.

Coles said the night time attack came between Wednesday and Thursday shortly after he, the local vicar and schoolchildren participated in the annual sprig cutting for the queen’s Christmas table.

Irrespective of what one might think of the tree, it obviously held some symbolism, some message to the vandals. One they opposed to. But what depravity makes a person taking out his/her frustration on a tree, a living thing that brings joy and doesn't do anybody harm?

A rather huge stitch up

Lord Monckton, on Jo Nova's blog raises the alarm: In Cancun the governing class in what was once proudly known as the Free World is silently, casually letting go of liberty, prosperity, and even democracy itself. And no one in the mainstream media will tell you this.

As Jo Nova writes:

It did seem too quiet at Cancun.

The power hungry tyrants learnt from Copenhagen. They realized that they have a far better chance of success by underselling the expectations and sliding in long impenetrable documents in front of underling bureaucrats.

The rest of the post is by Lord Monckton, who is reporting what is actually concocted in the halls of that splendid venue in Cancun. The gist of it:

In all but name, the UN Convention’s Secretariat will become a world government directly controlling hundreds of global, supranational, regional, national and sub-national bureaucracies. It will receive the vast sum of taxpayers’ money ostensibly paid by the West to the Third World for adaptation to the supposed adverse consequences of imagined (and imaginary) “global warming”.

Head on over and read the entire piece. This is shaping up to be a stitch up to put the Turnip to shame.

Mrs Merkel is mistaken

Via Tim Worstall we learn that the EUnion has tried to bury a report in which it was concluded that hedge fund trading did not cause or contribute to the Greek debt crisis. Rather, the speculation by hedge funds entailed a form a risk sharing.

[T]he report found that "the CDS [Credit Default Swaps] spreads for the more troubled countries seem to be low relative to the corresponding bond yield spreads, which implies that CDS spreads can hardly be considered to cause the high bond yields for these countries".

It concludes: "All in all, the analysis... shows that the differences in bond and CDS spreads across countries are justified. Government deficits, debt levels and current account deficits give a consistent picture of vulnerabilities."

This is, of course, completely in opposition to what the EUrocrats, most notably Mrs. Merkel and Mr. Sarkozy (not to mention Mr. Juncker and El Presidente) maintain.

Th cute thing about this story is that the report was unearthed by our own Het Financiële Dagblad (NL), who are also mirroring the report here (pdf).

But it is a bit worrying that the FD had to go through all the hoopla of the EUnion equivalent of a Freedom Of Information request. All this to get a report that had been commissioned aleady back in March of this year. Apparently, the reluctance to release the report comes from the EC's perceived prejudice against hedge funds.

Michel Barnier, the EU financial services chief, said: "We know well that there are risks in this immense and opaque market for derivatives... My response as a politician is to say: 'Stop'. Shine the spotlight on those people who can manipulate."

He was backed by Nicolas Sarkozy, the French President, and Angela Merkel, German Chancellor, who said some bets against government bonds should be banned amid a resurgence of "strong volatility".

But they were wrong. The report they commissioned said so. And that is why it had to be buried.

Kudos to Het Financiële Dagblad for not letting the EUnion get away with this.

Quote of the Day

The strongest wins and there is no other cheek to take a new punch. Of course you could blindly chase the fata morgana of the equality of religions. But different from Christianity, islam is not for soft stick-in-the-muds that only want to discern the good in their neighbours. It's subjugate or be subjugated. Spy ring leader Julian Assange arrested

Today spy ring leader Julian Assange has been arrested in the UK. Although he was not arrested for his leading role in the world’s biggest spy operation, he was arrested for rape charges brought against him in Sweden. It seems that in a socialist model state like Sweden, you can be prosecuted for rape after consensual sex when you have refused to use a condom. The story goes that two woman had a relation with him simultaneously. After they found out that they had just been used for sex instead of the pretended serious relationship they filed charges for being forced into unsafe sex with him. It’s just too bad the MSM misses the irony in this: high-minded leftist caught by laws of his adored nanny state for his own vulgar behavior.

But why didn’t the US go after the now (outside the USA) famous spy ring master? After all they arrested Bradley Manning already a half year ago. This Intelligence officer was arrested in a forward operating base in Iraq were he had stolen over 250.000 confidential government files and confidential video footage of colleagues fighting in Iraq. At that time it was immediately clear that Manning had collaborated with Wikileaks on this, but the US government seemingly did do nothing to stop the Wikileaks spy ring.

Just as with the 9/11 attacks and the banking crisis, the US is again totally taken by surprise. People again will start asking: why were we not prepared? Why didn’t we see this coming? And rightfully so, after all the US is the world’s technology leader, the leader of the rising Internet age. Why can’t the US government adjust to these new times? How is it possible that a low ranking intelligence officer like Bradley Manning can access over 250.000 files marked confidential and not being noticed? After all, he was only caught because Manning him selves was bragging about what he had done.

One can also wonder why is it that the US can arrest and prosecute Europeans who fight in Iraq. But can’t do anything against spy networks that have their tentacles into an Iraq forward base? It’s just disturbing to see the silence of president Obama on this. His foreign minister, Hillary Clinton, doesn’t do any better, she describes these hostile anti American acts as ‘an attack on the world community’. This is not an attack on the world community, this is an attack on the United States of America organized by a leftist network in Europe that invites and collaborates with spies.

Dutch leftist don’t see it as an attack on the ‘world community’ either. Their support for Wikileaks seems directly proportional with their anti-American feelings. Dutch MSM love Assange and in parliament, the Dutch left liberals (D66) took the populist lead with the support of the other leftist parties and announce their support. They want a parliamentary debate (NL) about the arrest of spy ring leader Julian Assange and they want the Dutch government to pressure the EU into blocking any extradition of the spy ring master to NATO ally United States of Americas.

I guess that’s what the American presidency deserves, if they don’t stand up for themselves, don’t expect others to do it for them.

Halal labels

Via Trouw (NL) we learn that Second Chamber has passed a motion asking our government to introduce mandatory labelling of halal meat products. According to parliament, consumers should be enabled to recognize meat from animals slaughtered in islamic fashion. According to the author of the motion, Dion Graus (PVV), the labelling is aimed at consumers who do not want to inadvertently eat meat from animals that were not anaesthetized before slaughter.

The motion follows in the wake of a number of incidents where halal products stealthily replaced regular products. See here for a flashback. Additionally there have been persistent rumours that in some Dutch supermarket chains all mutton and beef is now halal, because keeping separate slaughter lines is too expensive. Though this, to my knowledge, has never been confirmed, it has not been denied either. Evidently our merchants hoped that by staying mum, consumers would just accept being force-fed halal products. The motion of today put a firm dent in that overly cunning plan.

The problem of halal-by-stealth is not limited to the Netherlands of course, as the following video item will demonstrate.

If the light of Israel is extinguished, we will all face darkness

Geert Wilders is in Israel. Yesterday he was in Tel Aviv where he gave a speech. The speech can only be described as powerful.

Let me start by saying that it is with great sadness that I share your grief over the deaths of more than 40 brave Israelis who lost their lives - many while trying to save others in the great fire near Haifa. My country, the Netherlands, is amongst other countries helping to put down this fire, which is threatening the lives and property of thousands of your compatriots. I offer my heartfelt condolences to the families of those who perished. My thoughts are with them.

Israel is an immense source of inspiration for me. When I came to your country for the first time as a teenager, I lived here for a year.

I am not ashamed to stand with Israel, but proud. I am grateful to Israel. I will always defend Israel. Your country is the cradle of Western civilization. We call it the Judeo-Christian civilization with good reason.

Israel is often being treated unfairly. The world looks at the plight of the Palestinians in refugee camps in Lebanon, Gaza, and other places, and many blame Israel. The UN claims that there are over 4.7 million Palestinian refugees, and many blame Israel. These voices say the Palestinians should be allowed to return to "Palestine." But where is Palestine? Many say Israel must solve the problems of Palestine. But is Israel guilty of the plight of the Palestinian refugees?

My answer is "No." The Arab leaders are to be blamed - and Islam is to be blamed. Let me first tell you why, and then I will tell you where Palestine can be found.

A lesson worth remembering

Today the Netherlands witnessed a lesson by eminence gris Frits Bolkestein. A lesson in turning the tables on the multi-cult morage. By suggesting that Jews that are recognizable as being Jewish have no future in the Netherlands, he out-manoeuvred the multi-cultural left and rendered their weapon of choice, racism, powerless.

Frits Bolkestein was the very first public figure who dared to question the multicultural mirage out loud. He did this in the early nineties of the last century, way before anybody had heard if Geert Wilders. Indeed, a recent unauthorized biography about Geert Wilders is entitled ‘Geert Wilders - Tovenaarsleerling’: Geert Wilders - Sorcerers Apprentice. The title refers to Frits Bolkestein as the sorcerer to Geert Wilders’ apprentice.

Given these antecedents, it was surprising and puzzling to read today (NL) Bolkesteins opinion that Jews who are recognizable as being Jewish, such as orthodox Jews, have no future in the Netherlands and should seriously contemplate emigration.

For Jews recognizable as such I don’t see a future here, because of the anti-Semitism among Moroccan Dutch, whose number keeps increasing.

Bolkestein blamed Arab satellite TV, watched by many Moroccan and Turkish youth, for the growing anti-Semitism.

Reactions to this remarkable statement were as swift as they were shocked. From left to right (politically), from Femke Halsema of GroenLinks to Geert Wilders and the PVV the sentiment expressed was the same: It is not the victims that ought to move, but the culprits.

So, how are we to interpret this? Mr. Bolkestein is not a stupid man (which immediately sets him apart from a goodly portion of the Dutch political landscape). He must have known that reactions to his statements on what is still a very touchy subject in the Netherlands would be all-round condemnation. Personally, I think it was calculated. Putting it in the terms as Mr. Bolkestein did, forced even the left to come off the fence. It is no mean feat for Mr. Bolkestein to forge such a choir of unity out of the increasingly polarized Dutch political landscape. But he pulled it off.

He was able to pull it off by performing what could best be described as a judo-like use of his opponents moves against them. By putting the issue of immigration from pre-dominant muslim countries in these stark terms, casting Holland and its political elite as so inhospitable that Jews must escape, he unsubtly poked a finger in the rawest of nerves of the Dutch left.

Their self-awarded moral superiority stems from their own delusions of being part of ‘the resistance after the war’; of being the good guys that would, had they been of age during WW2, have naturally stood up for their Jewish compatriots. If only they had been there and then, Anne Frank would not have perished in Bergen-Belsen. They would have put a stop to it!

Frits Bolkestein forcefully confronted the multi-cult crowd with the lie in their delusion. Without actually mentioning mass-immigration, but hinting that this is the reason why Jews no longer may have a future in the Netherlands, the multi-cult is confronted with an image of itself that utterly belies their high-minded ideals. Rather then saving Anne Frank, they have let let so many of her sworn enemies in, that she must now (yet again) contemplate leaving her home for safer havens.

In their zeal to protect and cater to the one minority chosen to play the part of surrogate-Jews to the left’s surrogate-resistance, they turned a blind eye to the abuse that their protectees are inflicting on the very same Jews the left (vicariously) wants so much to rescue from the forces of evil. But today Frits Bolkestein showed the left: The forces of evil, it is them. They are the perpetrators of the very same crime for which they blamed their parents and grand-parents: Passivity, complacency, unwillingness to recognize what is going on or to do something about it.

The main difference between them and their (grand-)parents is of course that at the time, what was happening was so grandiose, so evil it defied comprehension. Up until WW2 the concept of industrialized killing of men, women and children solely based on their ethnicity and/or religion was, quite literally, unthinkable. Common citizens during WW2 at least had that excuse. The contemporary left does not have such an excuse, which makes the Bolkestein statement hurt all the more. How do they explain their stunning naiveté? What is their excuse?

The genius of Bolkesteins statements is in the fact that is renders utterly useless the lefts most potent weapon: Accusations of racism. Pointing squarely to Dutch and imported muslims being responsible for the increase in anti-Semitism would have immediately switched the establishment in ‘protector-mode’. Mr Bolkestein would have been served up as yet another grumpy old white male blaming the coloured new-comer for society’s ills.

Instead, Bolkestein highlighted the ultimate consequence of the lefts one-sided obsession with immigration and racism: There being no room in the Netherlands for Jews. All of a sudden the issue is not an easily dismissed old white guy ranting against muslim new-comers. Instead the issue is muslim new-comers and their belligerent attitude towards the archetype of vulnerable minorities in the Netherlands.

Racism cannot be wielded as a weapon here. If it were, it would fully expose the logical inconsistencies of multi-culturalism. The pet minority of the multi-cult is actually doing to Dutch Jews what the left all too often accuses Geert Wilders of wanting to do to muslims. Recognizing the blatant anti-Semitism the muslim minority in Holland regularly engages in would shake the foundations on which the multi-cult faith is based. The whole thing would come down like a house of cards (which eventually, inevitably it will anyway). And without racism as a weapon the multi-culturalists are impotent.

That may be the most important lesson to learn from Mr. Bolkestein: Without ‘racism’ the multi-cultural left has nothing to say. When racism cannot be brought to bear the huffing and puffing indignation of the multi-cult instantly evaporates, leaving only a little embarrassed muttering. Mr. Bolkestein is showing us how to fight the multi-cult. By turning their self-awarded moral superiority against themselves: If you are so moral, how come an entire people have to flee our lands as they had to once before? It is a lesson worth remembering.
